My name is Yogi; I am a 19 month old Border-collie/Shepard mix. I am what you humans would call a throw-away dog. I lived with a couple in their 30s; they had three really fun kids! One day there was a very somber tone around everybody. The kids didn’t even want to play with me. Then they started packing up the house and were moving to some place called Miami!! Well I also had a dog friend named Oscar, he was allowed in the house and I wasn’t for some reason. He also fought with me over the food- our one meal of the day and you better not come around his bowl! Although the kids were fun to play with, they had not been taught by their parents correctly to show me what is right or wrong, they hit me. One day I ran across the street to a place where my human friends went often, the man grabbed me by the neck, pulled me across the street and started beating me. This lady made him stop, and told him he should never hit a dog!! I had played with this lady before and she came over quite a bit because she really liked the kids, AND ME!! She told my owner that I was smart, and how pretty I was. She also asked what had happened to my ears, they still don’t know I liked her.
One day my owners drove off without ME. I was sad and lonesome, the only food I had was dry food that had swelled up and it stunk! Later that day, the lady from across the street came to get me, and she took me to her house to live. My old owners more or less threw me away and I was saved by a lady that has loved me, taken me to the vet, had me NEUTERED, feeds me regularly, loves to watch me run and play catch with tennis balls AND I NOW KNOW WHAT AIR-CONDITIONING IS. I have lived here for 13 months, I call this home. I have 4 dog siblings, a crippled cat that lives in the closet, and two, true to the end human friends, that saved me from the pound and gave me the chance to have a healthy and happy life, while we share our time together on this earth.
